The Project
DOC is an e-learning platform for preschool I ideateed for  DOC Learning.
As the sole UX designer, I designed this project from inception to final design through research, ideation and UX design principles.

Task: design an application that can provide a suite of inquiry based curriculum and community learning tools to schools and parents around the world.

Tools: Adobe XD, Diagrams, Flowmap, Nucleo
Context
In order to mantain high standards in education every preschool is required to adopt  an approved by state curriculum.
The current market offers a variety of physical curriculum made by thousands of pages or e-book that are hard to use.
DOC learning has the goal of simplify and make this content more user friendly through a customizable platform for schools and families.
Style Guide
All the element of this project have been created with the intention to create a cohesive product image that carefully uses rounded corners, colour that are playful while mantaining a sense of calm and the use of clean and simple lines.
Used together, they give the friendly and comfortable feeling that the brand wants user to associate with.
Architecture
Screens
Onboarding
DOC is designed to facilitate educators and families in taking active roles in their children’s educational journeys.
Classboard

Users have easy access to their children daily program, class project and gathering.
Colours and UI elements are used carefully throughout this screen in order to leave space and attention for the activity cards.
Account

For families with multiple children there is a fast switch button that allows the educator to rapidly switch inbetween kids programs.
DOC uses minimal options screens that are easy to understand and don't require a learning phase.
Lesson Preview
This screen is needed do recap the topics and domains used in the lesson, and to focus all the  materials required to succesfully conduct the lesson experince.
Also a  series of book related activity are suggested if the user wants to deepen further in the topics.
Screen Share

In order to facilitate the lesson activity It is recommended but not necessary to screen share.
Only the content of the lesson, not the instructions will be then displayed on the larger screen.
Lesson steps

The activity instructions can be displayed both in the upright or orziontal device position.
A series of keywords could appear during the activity. By tapping: the explanation, photectics and audio feedback are revealed.
Badges

A reward system is used to encourage and motivate learners by recognising their progress.
With the achievement of a badge a series of module related jokes are displayed.
Library

In the library users can discover module programs, scroll through popular lessons or search topic related activity.
With age appropriate Early Learning Benchmarks mapped to each project, users can highlight learning opportunities with intentionality.
Responsive design

The platform is ment to be used from any devices users have access to. In order to mantain a consistent user experience the overall design remain similar with a few extra information displayed on largere screen sizes.
Evolution
Define UX Metrics
In addition to Adoption and Retention another set of parameters to measure success in this app would be to track the engagement  and average time spend on lessons activities. If this data matches the suggested timeframe used to write the lesson we would be sure that the activity has been performed correctly.

App or WebApp
If the purpose were to use only audiovisual and textual contents, a web app would be sufficient to guarantee a high quality fruitiion of those content. It would also be cheaper to develop and upgrade. However, it is in the company's future plans to integrate a number of physical and digital objects, which require access to mobile components that are not available for browsers. For these reasons, I felt it was wiser to design an app based platform, which was ready for the integration of these components, rather than developing a platform and then having to convert it entirely.
